J.A. Oeben signed his contract as ‘Worker’ at the Dutch National Railroads after a short period working in a cotton-mill. His new contract wat worth fl.0,60 an hour. He would remain working at the ‘NS’ for his entire career. Later generations of the Oeben’s Family kept working hard in different fields from ‘Worker’ to Businessman. 1923 Mercantile is founded to honor all hardworking-men in history.
